Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, founded in 1911 by Zhang Jian, who was a model of patriotic, national and private entrepreneurs, with his brother Zhang Cha, is a provincial comprehensive teaching and researching hospital. It is a high-level medical service center in the north of the Yangtze River Delta and the coastal economic belt with strong regional influence recognized by Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission. It is also a high-level provincial comprehensive medical center. It was certified as a first-class comprehensive hospital in 1994 and was identified as one of the hospitals in the International immediate Emergency Treatment Network in 1998.

The West Branch

The West campus covers an area of 146 mu, with a construction area of 238,000 m2. The East campus（Ⅰ Stage）which was put into operation in May 2024, covers an area of 160 mu, with a construction area of 430,000 m2. There are 3,300 beds in total and 4687 staff, among whom are 943 with senior titles, 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 22 with the State Council Special Expert allowance, and over 462 as doctoral and master’s supervisors.

Based on our hospital, the Clinical Medicine discipline of Nantong University is a key discipline in Jiangsu Province. It is a doctoral degree authorization station for professional degree in Clinical Medicine approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. The Clinical Medicine discipline ranks in the top 1.742‰ in the ESI Global rankings. Currently, our hospital has 4 national key clinical specialty construction projects, 1 national "Flagship" Department construction project for Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine, 8 provincial-level regional medical centers (including 4 construction units), 1 provincial medical innovation center, 5 provincial key medical disciplines, 1 provincial engineering research center, 4 provincial quality control centers, 35 provincial key clinical specialties, and 1 provincial key specialty (Class I) of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The East Branch

Our hospital is one of the first certified stem cell clinical research institutions by the National Health Commission, and the National Advanced Stroke Center, the National Chest Pain Center, Heart Failure Center, Atrial Fibrillation Center. Our hospital also serves as the Chest Pain Treatment Center, Trauma Treatment Center, and Stroke Treatment Center of Jiangsu Province, as well as the Jiangsu Provincial Critical Care Center for Pregnant and Postpartum Women and the Jiangsu Provincial Critical Care Center for Newborns.
